Medical facilities in Damazin town are recently receiving dozens of hepatitis and watery diarrhoea cases, according to a local source in the Blue Nile State capital.

The source confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that many of the cases being received daily in the Damazin Teaching Hospital are hepatitis cases. He also pointed to high HIV/AIDs rates in the town.

The source pointed to accumulation of stagnant water in various residential areas in the town, while deploring deteriorating general health conditions.

In late July, a local activist told Radio Tamazuj that diarrhoea and other diseases killed about 10 people including children in the town.
