Heavy rains hit South Kordofan capital

Three people were injured when heavy rains and wind collapsed several houses in Kadugli town, South Kordofan state.

“At least three persons from one family were wounded at Tello when their roof collapsed due to heavy rains, which were taken to Kadugli Hospital for treatment,” a Kadugli resident told Radio Tamazuj.

Witnesses in Kadugli told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that residential areas in the eastern part of the town were most affected by the rains, including Tello, El Gurut, Kus North and South, las El Daraja Rabaa, and Sima areas.  There have been power blackouts since last week.

Court sitting adjourned

In a separate development in Kadugli, on Friday a criminal court there postponed the trials of two elderly people accused by Sudanese intelligence services of arms smuggling.

The court will determine the ages of the accused before continuing the trial on 23 June.

The two suspects were identified as Hamid Ali Mohamed Fadul El Saed, aged around 70, and Bashir Mohamed Hamed Mohammed, aged around 68.
