Heavy rain and wind collapsed several houses in the disputed area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan.
The Rumamer County commissioner told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that rainstorms caused damage to properties and houses.
He said citizens are in need of immediate aid especially non-food items, saying local authorities alone cannot help the affected people.
The Abyei administration is experiencing financial difficulties so cannot fully respond to disasters, according to the official.
The commissioner urged local communities and aid agencies operating in the area to provide assistance to the needy people.
