Heavy rains have destroyed over 400 homes in parts of Twic South County in Jonglei State, a local official said.
County commissioner Daniel Deng Manyok told Radio Tamazuj last Thursday that several residents have been left homeless in Patiou, Nomlou and Marial areas.
“242 homes were destroyed in Patiou. In Nomlou and Marial areas, 113 and 48 homes were destroyed respectively following heavy rains that started on 25 August,” he said.
“Now, about 3, 959 residents whose homes were destroyed moved to higher ground within the county, but there is no food, shelter and medicines,” he explained.
Deng appealed to aid agencies operating in Jonglei to intervene.
