Witnesses report to Radio Tamazuj the sound of large explosions Monday morning in many parts of Juba including Jebel, Gudele, Tonginy, and Hai Cinema.
A resident near National Security headquarters said at 9:25 am that there is serious shooting in and around the compounds forcing them to leave the area.
A resident of Nyakuron West said: “Now am hearing shooting from the checkpoint. I am leaving to the Catholic Church I do not know if I can reach.”
Another resident in Lologo said they are now fleeing because of heavy gunfire coming from the side of Jebel.
Near the beer factory, an area where Eye Radio is located, residents said some group of people have come and ordered them to leave their homes as of 9:40 am.
“We are hearing the gunfire from the checkpoint. For me I did not run since yesterday because I have a baby. Most of the people have left. I am left with some few people. My husband is not there and I cannot manage to carry the baby and some clothes for my baby,” she said.
“I think they have changed the gun. It sounds different form that of yesterday. They are shooting big guns but is not sounding like that of yesterday,” she said.
A Gudele resident who fled to Gureyi but returned to see his house this morning said he will be going back to Gureyi area where many people are sheltering..
He said in Gureyi they are still hearing the sounds of gunfire towards the checkpoint area.
