Health workers in Sudan’s Blue Nile State are demanding the dismissal of the state health minister saying the health situation has greatly deteriorated.
Some of the health workers who spoke to Radio Tamazuj on condition of anonymity said the main government hospital in Damazin has only 12 doctors three of whom are administrative staff. They said the doctors are not able to provide health assistance to all the sick people in the state.
They further said there is a lack of health personnel at Ruseires, Bakuri and Dondoro hospitals, adding that cases of cholera are increasing daily but nothing has been done by the minister.
They called on the state government to sack the minister for failing to address problems within the health sector in the state.
