Aweil Health Sciences Training Institute was officially inaugurated on Monday by the State Minister of Health Tong Deng and governor’s representative Lino Adup Achier.

Students who have already been selected for training are expected to study for three years in one of several fields, including midwifery, laboratory or nursing.

The Institute’s Principal Achier Aguer said that the facility has a mission to train health workers. He credited the states former caretaker governor Kuel Aguer and the current acting governor Salva Chol Ayat for supporting the institute.

The State Legislature’s Education Committee Chairman Santino Mayuat Ngong encouraged the newly admitted students to be serious about their education.

Mayuat said, “Today is a very good day for us in Northern Bahr el Ghazal because the institute will open eyes of our people. In previous time, scholars were trained in far places and now a student will study near his or her family.”
