Health situation relatively stable in Abyei, South Kordofan

The health condition in the Abyei’s Anet and Agok administrative units in South Kordofan is relatively stable.

Ayom Kurcheng, director of the Agok hospital stated, said that the health situation in the area has relatively improved despite the influx of returnees, in an interview with Radio Tamazuj. "Medicines are available in the Agok hospital and the other health care centres in the Abyei area, as well as medical cadres in the hospitals", the director explained.

Kurcheng commended the National Health Ministry in Juba for supplying the Abyei hospitals with all the required medical services and doctors.

Abyei plebiscite

The head of South Sudan’s opposition Sudan People's Liberation Movement-Democratic Change, Dr Lam Akol Ajawin, welcomed the outcome of the Abyei plebiscite. In a press statement, he added that the referendum reflexes the will of the nine Ngok Dinka sheikhdoms to “liberate themselves” and determine their future.
