Heavy rains and floods in Bor town have exposed buried bodies in the town’s cemetery, causing health concerns for residents, a health official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, John Makwei, the acting director for public health in Bor Municipality said they are concerned about the health condition of residents in Tibek neighbourhood, where the cemetery is located.
Makwei said they are worried that infectious disease could sweep across the state, warning residents to take precautionary measures.
Machar Machol, the deputy mayor for administration and finance asked Bor residents to remain calm while the state authorities hold consultations with traditional leaders to identify an area for a new cemetery.
