A Non-Governmental Organization, Health Pooled Fund (HPF), on Friday donated three ambulances to the ministry of health in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
According to the state Project Coordinator for HPF, Natalina Wadarif, the ambulances will enhance the capacity of the state ministry of health to respond to emergency cases at the county level.
The Commissioner of Jur River County, James Bak Nyiyuo, who received one ambulance on behalf of his county, appreciated the national Ministry of Health and Health Pooled Fund for the services rendered.
Bak Nyiyuo said health authorities in his county have been operating with only one ambulance.
“I thank the National Ministry of Health and the Health Pooled Fund for the support they have given to the state ministry of health. We were only operating using one ambulance working in Jur River County, and now I want to tell the citizens of Jur River County that congratulation to you because today, I have received the ambulance from Health Pooled Fund as support,” Nyiyuo added.
For his part, the state minister of health, Dr. Vincent Taban Joseph, revealed that their role in the Ministry is to ensure all three countries receive ambulances.
“I am honoured to dispatch the ambulance to Jur River County, this will be a good gesture in the county, and at the same time, we have also sent one to Raja, and I hope the three counties in the state have received,” Taban said.
Dr. Joseph also requested county administrations to take good care of the ambulances and use them only for emergencies.
He added that they are working to procure another ambulance for Wau County soon.
