Health authorities in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal denied reports of an Ebola outbreak in the state.
An unknown disease has infected several patients at Wau Hospital in the Western Bahr el Ghazal capital, a source said Tuesday.
Isac Kileto, the state health minister, told Radio Tamazuj such reports of Ebola are “lies,” and that necessary precautions are in place to contain the virus in case it does emerge.
Still, the rumour of an Ebola-type outbreak in Western Bahr el Ghazal stirred fear among local citizens, the source told Radio Tamazuj.
In December 2013 an unknown disease that caused persistent convulsions in children broke out in Raja County and Bazie area.
