Health authorities decry shortage of medical facilities and drugs in Amadi State

The ministry of health in South Sudan’s Amadi State say the health situation in the state is deteriorating due to a shortage of medical facilities, medical personnel and essential medicines.

The ministry of health in South Sudan’s Amadi State say the health situation in the state is deteriorating due to a shortage of medical facilities, medical personnel and essential medicines.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, Amadi State Health Minister Tuna Richard said Lui Hospital, which serves patients from all the state’s counties records high number of patients on a daily basis.

“We record 100 cases of malaria and hepatitis every day. This is very worrying,” she lamented.

“We cannot treat these diseases alone, so we call on the organizations to support us with medicines," she appealed.

The minister added that due to lack of space, the hospital is forced to admit both men and women in the same ward.

She revealed that her ministry had requested the national health ministry to rehabilitate the existing county health centres, build more wards at Lui Hospital and employ more medical personnel but they have not received any response yet.
