Reverend Matta Al Mubarak of the Sudanese Church of Christ (SCOC) says the people of Nuba Mountains in Sudan’s South Kordofan State lack of education and health services.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj from Heiban, Al Mubarak said there is need for more teachers and education facilities for girls.

“We need more teachers and that can happen through two ways: training more people within Nuba Mountains by upgrading the existing training centers or through sending teachers or experts to accompany us during this critical time,” he said.

The religious leader also urged faith-based organizations to help provide education services to the area. “But one of the most needed services here in Nuba Mountains is secondary school for girls, this is the most needed service,” Al Mubarak added.

There are only three secondary schools for both boys and girls in the entire Nuba Mountains.

Al Mubarak also pointed out that many people are suffering from eye diseases and due to lack of health facilities they are not able to get medical attention.
