Several heads of state and dignitaries will attend the signing of the Sudan Peace Agreement slated for tomorrow in Juba according to South Sudan Presidential Security Advisor Tut Gatluak.
“The Presidents of Kenya, Uganda, Chad and Sudan will attend. The Prime Ministers of Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan will also be in attendance. The Qatari foreign minister, Saudi Arabian foreign minister, UAE Petroleum minister are also coming,” Tut Gatluak said on Thursday.
The Presidential Advisor invited Sudanese nationals to come to attend and witness the signing of the Sudanese peace treaty.
“Sudanese coming to Juba are not visitors, this is your home.” He said. “All roads and airports in South Sudan are open for citizens of Sudan to come for this function.”
Tut Gatluak said Sudanese and South Sudanese are one people in two countries, “All Sudanese are welcome and we are prepared and ready for the function.”
The Sudanese government and the main rebel alliance have agreed on a peace deal to end 17 years of conflict. The Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF), a coalition of rebel groups from the western region of Darfur and the southern states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile, will sign the final agreement in Juba tomorrow.
The peace agreement provides for the dismantling of rebel forces and integration of their fighters into the national army.
Gatluak thanked Britain, Norway, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and other countries, international and regional organizations and individuals for making the peace deal come to fruition.
