A senior official in Rumbek East County has confirmed the killing of the Bar-Majok primary school head teacher during the weekend at Atiriu Village.

Cedrick Madit, Rumbek East Executive director, told Radio Tamazuj that the head teacher was killed on Friday in an area south of Panawac.

Director Madit said the teacher was shot while bathing with friends at Bar-Majok water point.

Local authorities said they will cooperate with area administrators to find the killer, and that the motive is unclear.

Inter-clan revenge killings have rocked Lakes State this year, though it is not known if the teacher's killing is related.
