Head of UNESCO South Sudan shot in Juba

Salah Zaki Khaled, UNESCO representative for South Sudan, survived a gunshot to his lags and hands by a group of well-armed soldiers yesterday evening after the clashes between the government forces and SPLM-IO forces.

Radio Tamazuj is informed that Khaled is now under medical attention at UNMISS clinic in Juba and might be evacuated abroad for further surgery. According to the source, the incident took place near the Egyptian embassy around 8 pm last night while he was leaving to his residence.

Khaled is an Egyptian national.

“It is true that the head of UNESCO office was shot yesterday, but is alive and being operated in his hand and leg at UNMISS clinic,” said the source. The source said an investigation is taking place.
