Harun appoints new executive for Lagawa, South Kordofan

Lagawa County in South Kordofan yesterday welcomed a new county executive amid calls from the people to restore security in the region. Under appointment by Governor Ahmed Harun, the new commissioner Adam Igidab replaces the former one Bashar Hamadna Alla.

During a speech at freedom square amid a crowd of Lagawa citizens, Igidab stated that his priority is to restore Lagawa to its old self which was lost as a result of deteriorating security which the county is witnessing.

Igidab said that the region witnessed a decline in security and now restoring it is a priority. He appealed to the leaders of SPLM Northern Sector to return to their senses and participate in developing the security of the county and to work side-by-side for the interest of Lagawa, asserting that these messages were conveyed to them from the state governor of South Kordofan, Ahmed Haroun.

He also appealed to Tie Tutu, another former commissioner and SPLM-N loyalist who led the county before the outbreak of the war, to return to his home in Lagawa, promising him protection.

He stressed that the areas of Tima, Taloshi, Julud and other areas dominated by the SPLM-N belong to Lagawa County. The mentioned areas are in western Nuba Mountains.
