Two Anglican priests are nursing torture wounds after an appalling robbery last week at their homes in South Sudan’s Yei town.

Mikaya Hakim, a renowned pastor in Yei, was reportedly beaten together with his wife in an attack by unknown gunmen.

A family member, who preferred anonymity, told Radio Tamazuj that the attackers broke into pastor Hakim’s house and robbed his properties including money.

The family member condemned the act and called on the state government to improve the security situation in Yei.

On the same night, another pastor called Yacoup Nathaniel was also attacked by gunmen at Mission area in Yei town.

Another young man called Jimmy Attawa was also attacked and robbed by a group of gunmen on the same night in Yei.

Local residents at Jigomoni, Lokumu, Tarawa, Nyakama, Hai Lebben, Guafa and TTC areas complained about the increasing incidents of robbery at night in Yei.

Yei River State is one of the administrative units which came into existence in fulfillment of the October 2, 2015, controversial presidential establishment order.
