A woman was killed and her son seriously wounded in South Sudan’s capital Juba after gunmen opened fire on them in the early morning on Monday, 15 June, eyewitnesses said.
The incident occurred when gunmen broke into a house in Gudele Block 7 at around 3 AM.
They then dragged out the woman and her 15 year old son. They shot the woman with three bullets in her chest while the son was shot in his head, the sources said.
“They shot her in her chest with three bullets and did not steal anything from the house,” according to one eyewitness.
The wounded boy was rushed to Juba Teaching Hospital but he was in a critical condition, according to another eyewitness.
Attempts to call the police did not succeed as residents called the 777 police force that did not show up to rescue the situation.
Last week gunmen exchanged fire with some resident from block 7 injuring one civilian.
