Unknown gunmen shot and killed a woman at Jebel Kheir residential area in Wau town of Western Bahr el Ghazal State on Monday, police and family members said.

Peter Paulino, a family member, told Radio Tamazuj that Angelina Paulino Uvur was shot dead at home in the presence of her mother and the other siblings.

Paulino said he had learned of his sister’s death through a phone call, urging security forces to arrest the culprit and ensure justice prevails. He pointed out that the motive behind the incident remains unclear.

For his part, Atot Bol, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director in the state said the deceased’s family opened a case at the police station for further investigation should the culprit be found.

He urged citizens to be calm and cooperate with members of the organized forces so that the culprit is apprehended to face the law.
