Unknown gunmen on Wednesday night killed three people in Lainya County in South Sudan’s Yei River State, according a local official.
The dead were not identified.
Kenneth Duku, the Minister of Information in Yei River State, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that three civilians were shot dead in Lianya town by unidentified armed men.
Minister Duku explained that the three civilians were shot and killed in their house at Lukurubang residential area in the town of Lianya. He noted that no arrests have been made so far.
However, the state minister said security forces are searching for the culprits.
Duku said the incident was the first of its kind in the area sine a large number of local residents decided to return to their homes after fleeing to neighbouring countries due to the conflict in 2017.
