Unknown gunmen shot and killed three fishermen in Tonj South County of South Sudan’s Warrap State on Friday, a local official said.
Gabriel Awan Makuoch, the Secretary General of the defunct Tonj State, told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that the fishermen were attacked while fishing in the Tonj River. He said the incident took place at Akucheng area in Manyangok payam.
Awan further said the attackers, whose motives are unknown, remain at large.
“The administrator of Manyangok told me that three fishermen who were fishing along the riverside were caught and killed by unknown persons. People and security agents are now moving around trying to face the culprits, but are yet to confirm where the killers came from,” Makuoch explained.
He urged the locals, especially youth, to refrain from senseless killings.
