At least six people including women and children were killed and two others wounded in an attack by gunmen at Garwal area in Twic East County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State, a local official said.

At least six people including women and children were killed and two others wounded in an attack by gunmen at Garwal area in Twic East County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State, a local official said.

Commissioner Dau Akoi Jurkuch told Radio Tamazuj that the attack took place when they were heading to the county headquarters.

“So all the six people lost their lives, and a child is still missing,” he said.

He said the attackers also kidnapped two children from Chama Wol area on the same day. The commissioner accused youths from Gumruk area in Boma state of involvement in the incident.

Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach officials in Boma to comment on Dau’s claims.
