A citizen was killed by gunmen inside his house in Busari south of Wau town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state Tuesday evening.
A family member said unknown gunmen broke into the house of the Andrea Lino Abdalla and shot him dead, while authorities did not manage to follow the perpetrators.
“Yesterday around 8:10 pm gunmen broke into the house of Andrea Lino Abdalla and shot him dead. We don’t know where those criminals are coming from,” said the family member.
This is the third deadly incident in the area in the last two months; six people were killed there in separate incidents by unknown gunmen.
The murder also comes after SPLM-IO accused government forces of attacking their positions in Wau area on Tuesday morning.
Tingo Peter, a member of the SPLM-IO in Western Bahr el Ghazal, accused government forces of attacking their positions in Abu Shaka and Momoi in Wau County on Tuesday morning.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Peter accused the government of reorganizing their forces and deploying them, saying he denies reports that they have withdrawn from positions in Busari and Wau.
“The government forces have continued to attack our positions and today morning they attacked us in Momoi on the road to Busari and Abu Shaka,” said Peter. “The government has not stopped attacking our forces and attacking citizens in the villages and inside the town.”
He said the government refused to recognize cantonment sites for SPLM-IO forces in Western Bahr el Ghazal so that they can treat them as criminals and continue attacking them, rather than complying with the peace agreement.
Radio Tamazuj was unable to reach the government side for comment.
