A lecturer at the University of Juba was on Sunday evening shot and killed in cold blood by unidentified gunmen.

Bol Chol, a law lecturer at the University of Juba, was shot dead on his way home near a police post at Kubri Haboba.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj this afternoon, the late Bol Chol’s relative, Gar Adel Gar said the incident occurred at 7pm as Mr. Chol was returning home from Juba town.

Gar revealed that the lecturer was killed by a group of gunmen in police uniforms. He appealed to police authorities to investigate the killing of the lecturer.

“Chol was killed by people in police uniforms near a police station at Kubri-Haboba. Nobody knows why they killed him, so the motive behind the killing remains unclear to us as family members,” he explained.

The relative said no arrests have been made so far.

Law students at the University of Juba this morning protested the killing of their lecturer in cold blood, calling on the relevant authorities to arrest the perpetrators.

Police spokesman Daniel Justin could not immediately be reached for comment.
