At least five people were killed and another three were injured in an armed attack on the Gong e Mou area, about two kilometres south of Abyei area on Thursday morning.
Akol Achuil, the Services and Social Welfare Minister in Abyei, told Radio Tamazuj that the incident took place on Thursday resulting in the death of five Ngok Dinka people including a one-year baby girl.
The wounded were taken to Agok Hospital for treatment.
Achuil who is also the official spokesman of Abyei Administration accused a joint force including SAF elements of carrying out the attack on Dinka Ngok cattle camp at Gong e Mou area near Abyei town.
He pointed out that the assailants attempted to loot around 700 cattle, but the local youths showed resistance forcing the attackers to leave the cattle.
A small group of attackers who crossed river Nyamuora were ambushed by UNISFA patrol and fled in disarray leaving behind them the 35 cattle they were driving at Wun e Ruok, he said.
