Gunmen have killed a South Sudanese aid worker in Northern Liech State in what appears to be the latest attack on humanitarian workers in the war-torn country.

Gunmen pumped bullets into a marked vehicle of the Hope Restoration organization on Saturday afternoon, killing one man – a South Sudanese national who was working as a medical doctor.

The deceased was identified as Youngson David.

Angelino Nyajima, Director of the Hope Restoration South Sudan, told Radio Tamazuj today that Youngson was killed when unknown gunmen ambushed their vehicle in Northern Liech.

Lam Tungwar, Northern Liech’s Minister of Information, confirmed that a humanitarian worker was killed by gunmen along the Nhialdiu-Bentiu road on Saturday

“A group of criminals attempted to stop the vehicle of Hope Restoration but the driver refused to stop. So the criminals opened fire on the vehicle and killed one of the aid workers, “he said.

Hope Restoration South Sudan is a national NGOs working in the area of food security and livelihoods in Unite region.
