Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday shot and wounded an elderly man in an ambush and abducted his 7-year-old daughter in Cueibet County of Lakes State, a local official said.
The incident occurred in Aluel-Ajieth village of Pagoor Payam.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, the Deputy Executive Director in Cueibet County, Daniel Wantok Dut, said six unidentified gunmen ambushed an elderly man and his daughter while they were travelling from Cueibet to Tiatiap Payam.
“It is not known where the armed men have taken the girl to. They shot and wounded the father and abducted his 7-year-old daughter, they ran away to the bush with her, and her whereabouts are unknown,” Dut said.
He said security forces had been dispatched to Aluel-Ajieth village.
“The government security forces and the relatives are following and monitoring the whereabouts of the abducted girl,” he added.
