Gunmen on Monday night attacked a commercial vehicle at Hiyala area along the Torit- Kapoeta road, injuring the driver.

Torit East County Commissioner Toby Majak confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that unknown gunmen had opened fire at a vehicle carrying goods and people.

“The truck was attacked at the junction which goes to Ikwoto and Kapoeta around 11 pm,” he said.

Majak further said the injured driver was taken to Torit for treatment.

He pointed out that truck was carrying some people including three soldiers. However, the local official said the security situation returned to normal after the incident.
