Gunmen abduct boy in Pochalla

Authorities in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) say a boy was abducted by a group of armed youth in Pochalla County on Tuesday.

Authorities in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) say a boy was abducted by a group of armed youth in Pochalla County on Tuesday. 

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Owety Olang, an administrator in the county, said the abductee Okoth Okwer Olok, 10, met his fate while at the farm along a river in the Ajwara area on Tuesday afternoon. 

“The attackers crossed the river and attack our four boys who were left by their parents on farms along a river. Three of the boys managed to escape from the sight of the attackers. Okoth was captured and taken away,” he said. 

The local official accused armed youth from GPAA’Pibor County of involvement in the attack.  

The county police inspector, Lt. Col. Amati Ochan, confirmed the incident and said local youths have yet to return since pursuing the abductors Tuesday afternoon. 

For his part, Jay Adingora Alual, the GPAA information minister, admitted the incident took place. 

“I received a report that a group of three men suspected to be from Murle abducted a boy aged 10 in Ajwara. He is called Okoth. On the side of the government, we are working to ensure if found those who are involved are apprehended and brought to justice,” he said.
