An eight-year-old girl was abducted by armed men in Gemeza County of South Sudan’s Terekeka State on Monday night, an official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday evening, the governor of Terekeka State Augustino Laku said an armed group attacked a family and abducted one child.
“Yesterday, an armed group attacked a family in Gemeza of Terekeka State. The criminals did not kill any one but they abducted an 8 year-old girl from her mother,” he said.
He added, “We suspected the attackers to have come from Boma State.”
Governor Laku pointed out that authorities in Gemeza County are investigating the incident, adding he will contact his counterpart in Boma State to help investigat and return the abducted child.
Laku also appealed to the communities to support the recently signed deal by embracing peaceful co-existence.
