Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Dr. Ali Dhamir El Faki, the medical director of the Kiir Mayardit Women’s Hospital in Rumbek said Maker Aru Ajuong Adet was murdered near his residence at Akuac area in Rumbek town.

He said Maker was the hospital’s finance and administration director. "We urge state authorities to apprehend the perpetrators,” said Ali.

The medical director pointed out that the motive behind the killing remains unknown.

Martin Maciec Makuc, the secretary general of the defunct Western Lakes State, confirmed the incident saying the medical assistant was killed by unknown gunmen.

The state official further said investigations are underway.

The chairperson for Rumbek University Students Association, Kuol Mathubier, condemned the incident and called for thorough investigations into the incident.

He described Maker as a great teacher who taught several students.
