Grenade explodes in hand of boy in Warrap

A 12-year old boy has suffered severe injuries after playing with a hand grenade he found in Turalei County of Warrap State last Wednesday evening.

Clinical officer Isaac Bith Madut says that the boy found the grenade and apparently began to pull the wires out. As a result the grenade exploded and the boy suffered injuries to his chest, neck and mouth. He also severed at least two of his fingers.

Isaac Bith says the child is in hospital where surgery is being performed. He went on to appeal to the community to educate children on the dangers of unexploded bombs and grenades.

This is not the only recent incident of this kind. In December a hand grenade killed three children in Ajak Kuac Payam.
