GPAA Information Minister Oleyo Akwer Nyalus confirmed the changes in an interview with Radio Tamazuj and said they were administrative.

“The sacking of the commissioners of Gumuruk and Verthet counties and announcement of their replacements are administrative and it is government prerogative to appoint or dismiss,” he stated.

Asked about unequal ethnic representation in the recent appointments and the entire GPAA government, Minister Akwer said there are about two to three Anyuak appointees in these recent appointments, including as head of a commission.

“For the Jie and Kachipo, they have not been left out deliberately and more appointments have yet to be announced,” he added.
