Governors in Bahr el Ghazal meet to stop banditry

Governors in the Bahr el Ghazal region have held a meeting to improve security after a flurrty of banditry on the road to Juba.

The meeting brings together the Governors of the proposed States of Tonj, Wau, East and Western Lakes. A representative of Gok state also took part in the meeting which convened on Wednesday.

Akech Tong Aleu, governor of the proposed Tonj state, said in an interview on Thursday that the meeting was organized specifically to assess and discuss how to improve condition of the on the main road linking the states of Bahr el Ghazal region with other states in the country, especially the capital Juba.

“The purpose of coming to Rumbek was for two very important issues. One is to assess the condition of the road linking the states of Bahr el Ghazal with the rest of the states in the country, especially Juba, said Akech Tong, governor of the proposed Tonj state in an interview with Radio Tamazuj. 

Tong also said that the issue of bandits stopping and robbing pedestrians was discussed, and the governors agreed to provide joint security forces for security.
