A cameraman working with the governor of South Sudan’s Lol State who was abducted by gunmen belonging to an unidentified group in Wau town last month and then released has told Radio Tamazuj that he was tortured.

In his first appearance after his kidnapping, Albino Andrea said he was tortured by the opposition gunmen who abducted him, adding that he was later freed by opposition fighters.

“I was dumped near new the slaughterhouse after two days. I was severely tortured and beaten. Anyone was urinating on my head,” said Andrea.

He explained that his abductors released him during recent fighting in Wau.

“When the opposition force entered the town after the recent attacks in Wau, those who abducted me ran away. The opposition force found me tied to a tree. They freed me and took me to their place,” he added.

But Andrea pointed that he was harassed by individuals from some of the opposition elements. He said that he was recovering from his torture.
