Four security officers in charge of protection for the Western Lakes State Governor Matur Chut Dhuol have been arrested for allegedly beating a Chinese engineer in the state.

Western Lakes’ Information Minister Chadrak Bol told Radio Tamazuj that the four security guards of the governor were detained since the last two weeks after they allegedly beaten up a Chinese engineer who was contracted to construct Kiir Mayardit Women's Hospital in the state.

“The Chinese man was driving his car on the road when the governor's convoy cars were heading to the office. The security guards stopped the Chinese but he was scared and he suddenly threw himself down as the security guards were talking to him,” Chadrak said.

“The Chinese hurt his head when he threw himself down, so what happened was communicated to the Chinese ambassador in Juba,” he added.

The minister pointed out that the state governor has investigated the incident and ordered the arrest of the security guards involved in the incident.

“After investigations, four bodyguards were found guilty and they will appear in court soon. The suspects have already been dismissed by the governor,” he said.

The governor of Western Lakes Matur Chut said in a statement on Wednesday that he had presented a report on the issue of the Chinese man to the country’s minister of interior and the Chinese ambassador in Juba.
