The press secretary in the office of Central Equatoria State Governor Gen. Augustino Jadalla Wani said his boss has marked 100 days in office and already recorded several achievements.

Addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat in Juba on Thursday, Waakhe Simon Wudu said his boss assumed office on 3 May, shuffled several officials, banned spending by state agencies, and instead directed that all expenditures be done through the ministry of finance.

He noted that some of the governor’s achievements include the resumption of work at some redundant departments and ensuring that all state revenues are banked.

“The governor, upon taking office, found out that revenue-generating institutions were spending on state activities and he immediately banned this practice and directed that spending be managed by the state ministry of finance and planning,” he stated.

Wudu also revealed that the governor found out that a lot of officials were compromised in the management of the affairs of the state and formed three committees to investigate the status of state assets and to appraise the workforce.

“The objective of forming the three committees was to ensure effective management, transparency, and accountability for state resources as well as implementation of the state`s policies,” he said. “These committees have already completed their various tasks and submitted their report to the governor for the next course of action.”

The governor’s mouthpiece revealed that his boss also directed all official state transactions to be conducted through the bank.

“Revenues from the revenue institutions are now being remitted to the bank and this is contrary to the system the governor found which had the physical transfer of cash and provided loopholes for misuse of public resources,” Wudu asserted.

He highlighted that the state ministry of finance no longer gives cash to state institutions and the governor has directed that money be transferred to the bank accounts of the institutions.

Wudu however qualified that Governor Jadalla’s achievements have been negatively impacted by the economic hardship the country is grappling with.
