The chairperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in Opposition (SPLM-IO) in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, who is also the state governor, on Tuesday, suspended two executive members of the interim women’s league office in the state.
In a decree dated 22 August 2023, Sarah Cleto Rial suspended Nafisa Hamid Kudufara, the chairperson of the state women’s league, and Elizabeth Augustino Yenteturu, the deputy chairperson.
In a separate degree, Cleto assigned Esther Akende, the secretary of the SPLM-IO’s Women’s League to run the activities of the office in the state in the absence of the suspended officials.
“The two separate decrees are effective immediately until further notice,” the letter read in part.
No reasons were given for the suspensions.
