Western Bahr el-Ghazal State Governor Sarah Cleto Rial on Tuesday suspended her state security advisor, Marko Peter Achor.
The suspension came just a week after Achor accused the Governor of diverting two UNMISS-donated vehicles to her home in Juba.
Last week, Achor claimed that the UNMISS field head office had approved and shifted two vehicles to the State Council of Ministers in the name of the State Security Advisor and the Advisor for Human Rights Commission, which were handed over to the Governor, but she diverted them to her home.
Upon the Governor’s return from the capital, Juba, on Tuesday, she immediately issued a decree suspending Achor.
Achor said the Governor had lost control and acted contrary to the SPLM-IO party line, which appointed him.
“I received the news stopping me from work, but there were no details. I was appointed by the President through a recommendation from the chairman of SPLM-IO, Dr Riek Machar. The Governor has no powers to suspend a security advisor who was appointed through a Republican decree,” Achor told Radio Tamazuj.
Achor further said some people could not stand the truth.
“When someone tells the truth, they are misunderstood. I revealed the truth to the media, and that’s why I have been suspended,” he said.
Several attempts to get comment from the Governor’s office were unsuccessful.
