The government of South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal State on Wednesday launched a three-year development plan.

The development plan 2022-2024 is supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and other partners.

Speaking during the launch of the development plan in Wau town on Wednesday, State Governor Sarah Cleto Rial said the process involved all the state stakeholders.

She further said the state development plan is aligned with the National Strategic Development Plan that aims at consolidating peace and stabilizing the country’s economy.

“The process took into consideration the concerns of all the stakeholders, and we ensured that the process is in line with our national strategic development plan,” Cleto said.

Sarah urged the county governments to prioritize agriculture to develop the state.

For his part, UNDP representative Samuel Doe promised to support the state development Plan. He added that the development plan needs accountability from the people of the state.

The state plan focuses on developing the agriculture sector and improving education, security and health care services in the state.

In June, the unity government in Juba launched a three-year revised national development plan to strengthen institutions for transparent and accountable governance until 2024.

The 117 pages document known as the Revised National Development Strategy 2021 – 2024 is expected to enforce the vision 2040 towards justice, peace and prosperity for all.
