Government troops deployed in Mugwo County in Yei River State face a critical food shortage as their supply lines cut off.
Mugwo County Commissioner Natalino Lasubo told Radio Tamazuj today that more man 60 government soldiers are starving due to lack of food in the county.
He said the government soldiers are surviving on cassava of those who fled to neighboring Uganda. The local county official said h had presented the issue to the relevant authorities but there was no immediate response to address the matter.
The commissioner called on the government to supply farming tools and seeds so that the soldiers in the area can cultivate during the rainy season.
Mugwo County is located 14 miles south of the town of Yei along the Yei-Kaya road.
