Government troops raided the homes of the exiled former military chief in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr al Ghazal region on Tuesday, a family member said.

Malong's wife, Arek Ameth, told Radio Tamazuj that government soldiers entered their compound in the area of Warawar and went away with 11 vehicles.

“The raid in Warawar took place on Tuesday. The soldiers took 3 tractors and 8 vehicles,” Arek said.

“Nobody was assaulted during the raids. But, the soldiers went away with sacks of gum Arabic and peanut,” she added.

She pointed out that the soldiers had come from the SPLA army division in the area of Wunyik.

Army spokesman Lul Ruai Koang said he had no information about the incident.

The former army chief has recently formed his rebel group to challenge President Salva Kiir.
