South Sudan government says it has approved the planned capital city logo Friday after a presentation by the country's first vice president Taban Deng Gai.

Last year, a high-level committee led by first vice president Taban Deng Gai was set up to fast track the construction of the planned capital city Ramciel.

South Sudan’s Information Minister Michael Makuei said the cabinet approved a new logo for the proposed capital city after deliberating on three proposed logos by artists.

“The technical committee came out with three proposed logos, and after deliberations on the three proposed logos, the Council of Ministers opted for one logo as the logo for Ramciel,” said Makuei after the cabinet meeting.

“The logo as it was adopted, it is R and C combined by an artist,” he explained.

The planned capital in Ramciel in Greater Lakes State is believed to be an ideal site for the nation’s new capital.

South Sudan and Morocco had signed a deal to build Ramciel that will see the national government relocate from current capital Juba.

The world’s youngest nation is facing economic crisis with huge budget- deficit due to the ongoing civil war.
