Government and opposition fighting continues in Unity

Fighting between government and opposition forces has continued in the Nhialdiu and Leer regions of Unity State, according to a spokesperson for the opposition and a government official.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, James Yuan accused government forces of burning and looting civilian properties.

“Clashes are still continuing and we did not get the chance to count the causalities on both sides,” Yuan said.

Minister of Information in Southern Liech State Peter Makuoth confirmed the clashes but downplayed it, adding the situation is relatively calm.

“This is a continuation to the clashes that erupted in the state previously. The clashes transferred to other parts of the area,” said Makuoth.

The minister condemned these clashes, noting that the citizens are the only ones who are affected by it. He also stressed that peace is the priority in order to save lives of the people.
