The government of Gok State has announced the appointment of six new county commissioners for newly created counties.

The state is one of three controversial successor states to Lakes State, which was one of South Sudan’s original ten states established under the 2011 constitution. Counties belonging to Lakes State have been subdivided since the creation of the successor states by presidential decree in October 2015.

In a gubernatorial decree Governor Madhang Majok Meen appointed Peter Anyuon Dut for Cueibet County, Bol Madok Dhuol for Abiriu County, Joseph Makuer Majuec for Waat Adol County, Enock Macuoc Mayol for Malou County and Abraham Gok Achien for Duony County.

The decree comes into effect from 10 October 2016.

In a related development, the governor also appointed two administrative officers for newly created administrative units and they are James Khacuol Dhieu for Joth Mayar Administrative Unit and Ruben Mayom Majak for Citchok Administrative Unit.
