Gok state foils attempt to steal cattle in Duony County

Authorities in Gok state said they have foiled an attempt by a cattle rustler to steal cows in newly created Duony County, renewing confidence in the community of the ability of the government to assert control and in running the affairs of the area. Local authorities say they caught a suspect driving five cows. The suspect has been identified as Thon Reec Ater under the traditional leadership of the Executive Chief Lieny Malith, who hails from Rumbek North County in Western Lakes State. The cows caught with him were returned on Thursday this week. The County Commissioner of Duony in Gok state Abraham Gop Achien reported to Radio Tamajuz that the thief was caught by security apparatus of his county while driving five cows to the territory of Western Lakes state where he belongs. Commissioner Abraham added that the thief is now arrested in Abiriu County in Gok state for investigation and his people and western Lakes state government have been informed about the matter. He appealed to youth to avoid cattle raiding and any forms that threaten the security of the two sisterly states. The Commissioner of Abiriu County in Gok state also confirmed that the thief is arrested in his county and is waiting trail in the competence court. He added that the government is ready to fight any crimes so as to ensure stability.
