A local court in Gok state is seeking a permission to lift the immunity of Abiriu county commissioner to enable him appear before the court to answer a case brought against him.

Commissioner Bol Madok Dhuol, according to the letter before the deputy governor, Kongor Deng Kongor, has been accused by a local businessman identified as Matur Mayuom Abol to have taken a Solar panel meant for his shop in Abiriu by force. His failure to return the solar panel, according to several sources, compelled Bol to open a court case against him.

The local official cannot, however, appear before the court with his immunity as the county commissioner unless it is lifted to allow him attend the court as ordinary citizen.

This arrangement, according to the government protocol, requires approval of the state governor or his deputy. The deputy Governor says he will decide on the matter very soon. This is the third time for the Senior Government Officials in the state to be summoned by the court after Commissioner of the State Headquarters James Aguer Dut, and the State Secretary General Santion Ater Mon Wantok.
