Gok state cabinet takes oath of office

Madhang Majok Meen, the appointed governor of South Sudan’s proposed Gok state, swore in his cabinet in the high court in Cueibet County.

Madhang Majok Meen, the appointed governor of South Sudan’s proposed Gok state, swore in his cabinet in the high court in Cueibet County.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony of the cabinet, Madhang said that security, peace, and agriculture are top of his priorities. He said his government is fully committed to zero tolerance on corruption and will work for a corruption-free society.

He said they will achieve this through democratic transformation and cooperation between the assembly and executive.

Madhang also declared Fridays as days off for cultivation during the rainy season as agriculture is the backbone of the national economy.

Gok assembly speaker Veronica Philiph Dak described the day as historic. She assured the assembly’s readiness to work hand in hand with the executive for the interest of Gok state’s citizens.

Newly appointed minister of local government and law enforcement Samuel Wel Machiek who represented the state’s new ministers said that the ministers are ready to cooperate with the organs of the state authority. Wel added that insecurity shall be fought collectively.
