Gok state assembly to summon finance minister: MP

The Gok State Legislative Assembly is planning to summon State Minister of Finance and Public Service Daniel Chol Koknyin for hiding the amount of the state budget that was given to Gok State by the now defunct Lakes State government after the successor state was created by presidential order last year.

The Chairman of the Specialized committee for Security in Gok State Riak Zacharia Mathen told Radio Tamazuj that a group of five MPs went to the Minister of Finance on Tuesday at his house to make an inquiry of finances of the state as well as the allowances of the Members of the Assembly.

He said the minister asked them to go away as soon as they arrived at his house as he said the meeting would not be official if conducted at his home.

"So the members of parliament went back to the assembly angrily and reported that they will soon summon the finance minister before the state parliament to answer some questions in regard to his performance since he was appointed in April of this year as Finance Minister,"said Riak.

Gok State is one of three successor states in Lakes State, located in the northwest of the state bordering southern Warrap, which is also now referred to as Tonj State.

Finance Committee Chairperson Elizebeth Athei Maker also confirmed the incident to Radio Tamazuj.
